2 Being a chef!!! Why would I want to be a chef?

3 Short-term goals My short term goal is getting my high school diploma with average grades (not failing) and after I graduate high school after I will apply into collage called VCC (Vancouver Community Collage).

4 Long-Term goal Cons: Pros:
My long term goal is having my own restaurant and be a successful chef and travel around the world to learn different culinary experience in 20 years. Cons: Having to spend next 2-4 years in collage and need a lot of experience and culinary knowledge to become a chef

5 Skills & attributes A good sense of taste and flavor Detail-oriented
Work well as part of a team Hand-eye coordination An interest in cooking

6 Education have completed some form of post-secondary culinary training. Many colleges and private schools offer programs in food preparation, cooking, chef training, and culinary management. Apprenticeships generally last 3 years and combine classroom instruction with on-the-job training. Some chefs has a red seal

7 Salary Estimates of Canadian chefs 'average income range from about $35,000 to $40,000 a year. Entry-level chefs may earn little more than minimum wage, while experienced chefs who work full-time can make up to $75,000 a year. New chefs earn about $25-$30 an hour

8 Job description Chefs are responsible for the preparation and presentation of food in restaurants, hotels, and other facilities. They are more highly trained than regular cooks and their duties include not just cooking but also budgeting, purchasing supplies, hiring staff, and ensuring that things run smoothly in the kitchen. I am suitable for this job because I want to command people and I am more of an indoor person than outdoor and also I want being a chef as a profession.

9 Post secondary I want to go to a collage called VCC (Vancouver Community Collage) and requirements are: Culinary Arts (Professional Cook 1) Length: 32 weeks Admission requirements: should be 18 years of age or older or a graduate of a secondary school. Relevant courses: are English 10,Math 10, and Food Safe Level 1 Certificate. Tuition fees:$

10 hurdles My only hurdle is financial hurdle. It costs $ plus other fees PER semester. To overcome this hurdle I have to work as a cook and earn enough money per semester and also enough for rent in apartment.
