Nursery Spring Overview curriculum plan
Welcome to the Spring term in Nursery. Your child has a school book bag which will contain a school planner/daily book, reading book and any letters or homework. Please ensure your child has their book bag with them each day. Look in the bag to check and see what your child is doing as we shall update you about your child’s learning regularly. Our topics this term are: Nursery Rhymes and People who help us (In Nursery and Pre-school, week to week, we also adapt our planning to reflect the children’s interests). PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT Circle time activities sharing thoughts and ideas Playing games with others, taking turns and sharing resources COMMUNICATION, LANGUAGE AND LITERACY: Children will bring home a reading book to share at home each week. Stories and rhymes about the seasons winter and spring, Role play and retelling of nursery rhymes Describing story and nursery rhyme characters Listening to and recognising sounds Squiggle while you wiggle handwriting encouraging pencil grip Following instructions Retelling events Recognising names MATHEMATICS comparing sizes and lengths counting and comparing amounts Positional language EXPRESSIVE ARTS AND DESIGN role play e.g. helping Humpty Dumpty creating using paint, mod-roc and collage materials construction techniques using junk materials Singing songs and dancing linked to our topics PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT Sticky Kids - movement to music Parachute games PE on Friday afternoon will focus on gymnastic movements and ball skills Squiggle while you wiggle handwriting through dance UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD Talking about friends and family Exploring different traditions and celebrations (Chinese New Year, Valentines day, Pancake day, Mother’s Day, Easter) Completing activities on the Interactive Whiteboard RELIGION Know about Baptism Learn about Lent and Easter
