Miss Meagan Miss Brandi Upcoming Events Vocabulary Every Friday $1 Hat Day Jan. 15 MLK Holiday(NO SCHOOL) Jan. 18 th Grade Honors Program 9:30 a.m. Jan PTO/Math and Science Night 6:00 p.m. Feb Winter Break (No School) SPELLING WORDS: ambulance, brilliance, balance, performance, attendance, residence, dependence, hesitance, substance, absence, assistance, persistence, ignorance, radiance, appearance, reluctance, disturbance, importance, resistance, distance Noun- the name of a person, place, thing, or idea Pronoun-a word used in place of a noun. Verb-expresses action or being. Adjective-modifies or describes a noun or pronoun. Adverb-modifies or describes a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. Preposition-a word placed before a noun or pronoun to form a phrase modifying another word in the sentence. Conjunction-joins words, phrases, or clauses. Interjection-a word used to express emotion. Our Learning Reading/Language Arts: We will continue learning to determine the main ideas of a text and explain how they are supported by key details. We will also review Part of Speech. Vocabulary Quiz and DLR Quiz on Friday. Social Studies: We will continue learning about Cowboys and Cattle Trails. DSSR QUIZ on Friday. Math: We will continue working on adding fractions with unlike denominators and begin subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. DMR QUIZ on Friday. Science: We will continue learning about chemical and physical change. DSR QUIZ on Friday. Promotion-Retention Policy Reminder According to Emanuel County Schools Student Handbook with Code of Conduct, the Standards for Promotion in Grade 5 are: “Satisfactory progress will be determined by the yearly averages of 70 or above in reading, mathematics, and in science or social studies and achievement at grade level as defined by “Performance Level 2: Meets the Standard” in reading and mathematics using the state adopted Georgia Milestone Assessments, as well as other appropriate data such as Measures of Academic Progress (MAP).”
