2. Project HAACHT DOWNS Hello, Bonjour, Hallo!
My name is Robin Muller, I am 27 years old and live in Haacht. My hobbies include good food, going to the cinema with my brother and sister, dancing like no one is watching and playing with my dog Poochie. I am a very special young man as I was born with down syndrom .
When I was younger, I went to the scouts and to school. However, as I get older there is no room for me anymore. I am one of the lucky youngsters with a handicap, during the day I can stay at Rozemarijn. Rozemarijn in a center for handicapped people just like me. There I learn how to make smoothies, go shopping for dinner supplies and have a lot of laughs.
Unfortunately, I really am one of the lucky handicapped people. Most of my former scouts and school mates have nowhere to turn to after reaching 21 years old.
More than people with a handicap are on a waiting list. I was on the waiting list for 8 years before getting my spot at Rozemarijn. I now stay there overnight, with my mates and caretakers.
My parents decided they wanted to help others like me. As the problem is housing, my parents decided to buy an old house in Haacht and they are going to rebuild it so that 7 people with a mental dissability can have a new place to call home. My parents are funding this project themselves and could use your help raising funds to provide the home with a kitchen, bathroom and a comfortable living area.. Thank You!
