2 Eagle Pride Great choices for elective classes
16 Advanced Placement (AP) courses 51 Honors level courses Several College Credit Plus (CCP) classes taught here 20 different clubs Wide variety of sports and intramurals Link Crew to support our freshmen 82% of the class of 2017 went on to 2 year or 4 year colleges 4.8 million in scholarships offered to the class of 2017 $85,000 in local scholarships awarded Power school – check grades online Brand new building next school year 

3 Graduation Requirements
Our district’s goal for all students: move to college or a skilled job upon graduation 21 credits are needed to graduate 4 credits of English 4 credits of Math 4 credits of Social Studies 3 credits of Science .50 credit of health .50 credit of physical education (or completion of PE waiver) 5 elective credits Students must complete 1 Fine/Performing Art credit or complete a program through Polaris Career Center Colleges recommend 2 credits of World Language and 1 Fine/Performing Art credit

4 Eagle Pride Daily Schedule
School begins at 8 AM and ends at 3:15 PM SOAR (student opportunity for academic reinforcement) is 7:25-7:55 AM or 3:20-3:50 PM every day but Tuesday There are eight 50-minute periods in the day including a lunch period Five minutes are provided between classes Most students carry credits each year

5 Extra Curricular Activities
20 Clubs ~ based on interest – Student Council, Spanish, Drama, Key Club Some require tryouts or auditions – sports, plays, academic teams Athletes have specific course and grade requirements Enjoy high school ~ Get involved!

6 In the Future- 4 year plan
AP (advanced placement) classes- AP Info. Night Jan. 29 at 7 PM ~ Available in all core subjects and some electives ~ Can potentially earn college credit ~ Take the AP exam in May Polaris Career Center- SITES-Social Involvement Through Education and Service College Credit Plus – Info. mtg. Feb. 8 at 7 PM

7 Graduation Requirements for the class of 2022
Students will take 7 required end of course tests: 1. English 1 2. English 2 3. Integrated Math 1 4. Integrated Math 2 5. Biology 6. American History 7. 9 NCAA – Sports in College
16 core courses Check out approved courses on the web Register after junior year Must take ACT or SAT GPA counts!

10 The Registration Process
Use the course selection sheet (on yellow card stock) and the course selection guide on the website to choose classes for next year Obtain the teachers’ signatures indicating their recommendations/ NOMS teachers submitted recommendations in power school A parent/guardian must sign the form indicating their approval NOMS students should submit the form to their Science teacher by January 12

12 Considerations Honors classes are challenging and require extra time and effort Freshman transition course Some courses have prerequisites Some courses have additional fees Failed courses may require summer school or other credit recovery GPA is cumulative

13 Schedule Changes Class changes (dropping) will only be made if teachers, counselors or administrators believe that the placement is incorrect Changes will not be made because a student has changed his/her mind about a class If you sign up and enroll in a class, you must remain in that class There are a lot of great choices CHOOSE YOUR COURSES CAREFULLY

14 Optional If a student is not completing the physical education waiver, phys. ed. can be taken in summer school instead of during the school year A couple area high schools and Treca (online) offer phys. ed. summer school, and registration usually begins in April Register early if you are interested

15 Final Info. If your student attends any school other than North Olmsted Middle School, you will need to register him/her at Pupil Services. For information, call (440) Appointments can be made with a NOHS counselor beginning April 9, 2018 Freshmen orientation will be held before school starts
