1 Greek Cultural Quest By: Savanah Rollinson

2 Cultural values of Ancient Greece
• They had a political theory with a strong emphasis on debating the merits of different constitutional structures and assuming that government forms could be planned. • The art and sculpture served on the whole to glorify human achievement. • The drama and philosophy stressed the importance of human striving. • The philosophical and scientific tradition emphasized the validity of logical constructs in understanding the natural world.

4 Major Greek Gods Apollo- god of the sun, light, medicine, and music
Ares- dark god of war Poseidon- God of the sea, Horses, and of the earthquakes Zues- supreme lord of gods, god of the sky, symbolized by a thunderbolt.

5 Trojan War The Trojan War is known to be one of the most important events in Greek mythology. The war was against the city of Troy, by the armies of the Achaeans. Many ancient Greeks believe that is took place between the 13th or 12th century BC.     • According to Greek Legend t all started when Zeus became king of the gods and was not faithful to his wife. Zeus had many relationships in which many children were born so Zeus decided that there were too many people populating the earth so he came up with the idea to have a Trojan war decrease the population of people.

Achilles- Capable and worthy of all the Heroes that were in the Trojan War. Heracles- Was known for his strong muscles and his courageousness. Odysseus- was the most cunning heroes in the Trojan war. He is the main character in Homer’s Epos, the Odyssey. He symbolizes extreme efforts.

7 Famous Greek Monsters Cyclops – These creatures were found in the book called “The Odyssey”. They are one eyed monsters who eat humans. Cerberus – Is a three-headed, fierce, flesh eating watchdog that can be found in the land of the already dead. Sphinx – Had the head and the chest of a woman, bird wings, lion claws and a dogs body and she would ask trespassers a riddle and if failed she would devour them.
