3 What is Community Led Housing?
a way for local communities to provide their own decent and affordable homes often designed to help certain groups young people families older people housing can be rented to local people at affordable rates often eco-friendly and sustainable

4 What features are typical of CLD?
Independent not for profit Democratic, open governance Principally ‘affordable’ housing Can be new build or renovated properties Can be located in rural or urban settings Self managed for the benefit of the community

5 Popular models Community Land Trusts Co-housing
Cooperative and tenant controlled Self build, self finish, self help Development trusts and social action centres

6 What can they do? Own/manage land and property Create assets to generate income Re-invest surpluses locally Benefit present and future generations Homes, workspace, green assets, renewable energy

7 Why are CLDs an answer? Taking control
Genuine influence over local development (design, location, scheme delivery) Assets Meeting local needs by creating community-owned assets that produce income for local projects Affordable property for local people Stronger communities Active citizens working together using local skills / partnerships
