3 Seeking Unity With-in Diversity: Existing Youth Ministry Models
What is needed to unify these model’s is an approach that emphasizes the covenantal ‘in Christ’ connection of all the ministry’s in the church. One that also acknowledges the need to prepare youth to serve as the next leaders of the church and the world. A preparation that is done by entire families rather than trained and paid professionals with limited support volunteers. A preparation that defines discipleship in a way inclusive to word, deed, and mission. Challenging youth for even the possibility of becoming future church planters themselves. Preparatory Model Missional Model Family-Based Model Strategic Model Inclusive- Congregational Model Mapping Unity With-in Diversity

Providing both relevant, missional oriented teaching that has cultural exegesis in it; as well as solid Small Group questions that personalize the messages. Monthly outreach events (Doubt Night) and fun events (Dodge Ball tournaments, lake days, lazar tag, etc), as well as gender oriented fun events (Air soft tournaments, girls night in) Preparing youth for life & leadership beyond youth group ethos’s Creating opportunities for parent volunteers and presence at youth events (lake days), retreats (Gold Rush & Ski Trip), and mercy outreaches (Operation Christmas child & Compassion in Action & Justice Mission & Extreme Blessing). Empowering youth to live out God’s mission in their sub-culture Partnering with families to build lasting mentors in youths lives & deepening their experience of what the church is Giving them opportunities to lead amongst themselves, to lead over areas of ministry like Austin with Justice Missions or Grayson over worship or Lauren over Junior High small group leadership. Providing discipleship groups for guys and girls that allow them to go deeper in their understanding of their faith and God’s mission.

10 Seeking Unity With-in Diversity: Parental Pastoral Concerns
I’ve sought to do this by creating parent youth pastor forums every 3 to 4 months. By creating Meet the Parents nights where youth and parents and I all engage in the question of what following Jesus after High School will look like. And this month I plan on creating a parent advisory team. I’ve also tried to get different parents to share at youth, but had cancellations, In the future I hope to have a different parent share at youth group at least once every two months Embodying the Ephesians 4 model of ‘every member minister’ by viewing myself and parents as partners in the same mission.
