How to see an advisor… There are two ways to see a professional advisor: Scheduled appointment OR Drop-in advising To meet with your faculty advisor, contact him or her via , phone or during office hours TK It is critical to establish a relationship with your advisor. An ongoing, intentional relationship with your advisor will help give you direction and ultimately to help you reach your educational goals of earning a degree. The message is simple - regular meetings with your advisor will help you to graduate on time. To get in contact with an advisor from your college go to advising.calpoly.edu 5

Graduation Writing Requirement (GWR)
180 units to graduate Catalog Major courses GE courses United States Cultural Pluralism (USCP) Hist 208 Meghan Great visual tool, has all requirements listed for graduation: General *180 units to graduate *Catalog *GE Courses: go through each area -catalog gives you specific courses that fulfill GE requirements -emphasize area A and trying to finish by freshman year due to future prereqs USCP GWR (don’t worry about this now…need jr standing) Major/Support *Major courses *Support Courses *Free electives *Concentration…….. Your curriculum sheet is basically a tool that helps you see all the requirements you need to complete in order to graduate with your major from Cal Poly. GE requirements are listed on the right side of page. This is where you can see the courses that fit in each GE requirment. Major & Support courses are listed on the left side of page FREE ELECTIVES: You need overall 180 units to graduate—for most students, this means that you take all of your major, support & GE courses and you have less than 180 units earned…so then you still need some free elective courses to get to 180 units. If you make a change to your schedule, update your PolyPlanner.
Update PolyPlanner After You Register Register for courses. Update your PolyPlanner after you register, reflecting which courses you were able to secure. If you make a change to your schedule, update your PolyPlanner. Before the add/drop deadline of each quarter (eighth day of classes), be sure your PolyPlanner is planned three quarters out. MFN When you go to register for the next quarter, check your PolyPlanner to see what classes you are planning on taking. Repeat quarterly. 20
