Start your class/morning with a “Compliment Line.” Students stand in a line facing out. The student at the end steps out of line and turns to face the student in front of him/her. They exchange compliments and then the student moves down the line to the next student. As he/she continues down the line, each student takes his/her turn stepping out of line to move down the row of classmates giving compliments. In this way, every student must compliment every classmate.

15. I Want You To Know
On a sheet of paper, students write down the top 5 identity groups they most connect to. Teacher will list all groups that are identified within the classroom. Students will join 1 of the groups that they most identify with. If there is only one member of a group, ask if she/ he feels comfortable alone or if she/ he would like to join another group.
Each group uses chart paper to respond to the following questions:
What we want you to know about our group.
What we never want to see, hear or experience again as a member of this group.
What we want our allies to do.
When all groups have completed their lists, reassemble the class into one group and have them discuss their answers. When each group has explained their list, ask questions to clarify, not to challenge as the list represents realities for the group.
