5 GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Class of 2021
Performing Art - 1 Credit Examples… IIT, Art, Music, Dance, Drama, Debate, etc. HOPE – 1 credit or 0.5 credit in Personal Fitness and 0.5 credit in PE Take an online course through Electives - 8 credits Total Credits: Minimum of 24

6 WORLD LANGUAGE Not required for High School graduation
Two credits are required for admission into a 4-year university and for Bright Futures Scholarship

Passing Score on 10th Grade Reading Assessment- Level 3 or higher Passing Score on Algebra I EOC- Level 3 or higher 40 Community Service Hours 2.0 Unweighted GPA

8 GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA)

9 IMPORTANCE OF A GPA GPA is calculated every semester
½ credit is earned at the end of a semester if student passes the class Credit is earned at the end of the year for courses with an End Of Course Exam GPA is cumulative, considering all classes from 9th through 12th grade PURPOSE: Graduation from High School Earn college admission Earn scholarships Playing on a sports team for school

10 WHAT ARE THE 3 GRADE POINT AVERAGES (GPAs)?
Academic Core GPA Only academic classes (English, Math, Science, Social Studies & World Language) No Honors, AP or + points included - Purpose: College Admission / Bright Futures Scholarship State Cumulative GPA - unweighted including all academic and elective courses - Purpose: Graduation!!! Local District Weighted GPA - All classes including Honors, AP & + points - Purpose: Class rank / Talented twenty

11 HOW DO I EARN CREDIT FOR A CLASS?
YOU MUST PASS TWO OUT OF THREE GRADES FOR THE SEMESTER (non EOC classes) Semester grade… two quarter grades (37.5% each) + exam grade (25%) Earn credit… pass at least both quarters or pass one quarter and the exam

15 COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS
ALL students MUST have their outside community service organization pre-approved Must be done at a NOT FOR PROFIT organization and students cannot be paid To get approved, students must fill out the Pre-Approval Form completely Pre-approval form and log sheet are located in Main Guidance Visit for service locations
