5 Everything you ever wanted to know about Passports . . . And More!!

6 Passport Information What you need to know before you go
Passport Information What you need to know before you go!! Important Information about Passports Your passport is valid for 10 years. The Issue Date of your passport can be found on the data page of your Passport Book or on the front of your Passport Card. Some countries require that your passport be valid at least six months beyond the dates of your trip. Some airlines will not allow you to board if this requirement is not met. Check your Country Specific Information to learn about entry and exit requirements for the country or countries in which you are traveling.

7 Passport Information What you need to know before you go
Passport Information What you need to know before you go!! Important Information about Passports If your passport has been significantly damaged: Especially the book cover or the page displaying your personal data and photo, you will need to apply for a new passport.  Damage that might require you to replace your passport includes water damage, a significant tear, unofficial markings on the data page, missing visa pages (torn out), a hole punch, or other injuries. Normal "wear and tear" of a U.S. passport is expected and likely does not count as "damage."  For instance normal wear includes the bend of a passport after being carried in your back pocket or fanning of the visa pages after extensive opening and closing.

8 Passport Information Recent Changes
Newly designed Passports changed in 2017 with these new security features Inventive design with intricate engravings and inks New embedded machine-readable chip Biometric features and visual recognition Fewer pages and more durable covers It’s always best to renew earlier rather than later!

10 STEP https://step.state.gov/step/
What is STEP? The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service to allow U.S. citizens and nationals traveling abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Benefits of STEP Receive important information from the Embassy about safety conditions in your destination country, helping you make informed decisions about your travel plans Help the U.S. Embassy contact you in an emergency, whether natural disaster, civil unrest, or family emergency Help family and friends get in touch with you in an emergency.

11 GOES What is GOES? The Global Online Enrollment System allows registered users to enter their own applications for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler Programs such as Global Entry and NEXUS. This is the starting point to make application for these programs.

12 Global Entry What is Global Entry?
Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. At airports, program members proceed to Global Entry kiosks, present their machine-readable passport or U.S. permanent resident card, place their fingerprints on the scanner for fingerprint verification and complete a customs declaration. All applicants undergo a rigorous background check and in-person interview before enrollment.

13 Global Entry How to apply for Global Entry:
Create a Global Online Enrollment System (GOES) account. A $100 non-refundable fee is required with each completed application. If your application is conditionally approved, then your GOES account will instruct you to schedule an interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center. Each applicant must schedule a separate interview. You will need to bring your valid passport(s) and one other form of identification, such as a driver’s license or ID card to the interview.

14 Mobile Passport What is the Mobile Passport App?
With all the technology that is in the world today, it's no surprise that there is now a Mobile Passport app. Better yet, it's totally free for iPhone and Android devices. It does provide some of the benefits of the Global Entry Program and it helps you get out of the airport more quickly. If you can take a picture of yourself and answer a few basic questions, you can use this tech-savvy government-approved app.

15 Mobile Passport Advantages of the Mobile Passport App
App is FREE – download onto your smart device Can be faster than Global Entry You can create profiles for each member of your family Available at PHX airport Disadvantages of the Mobile Passport App Currently available in only 1 cruise port and 24 airports Need to have a smart device and either Wi-Fi or data plan

16 TSA Precheck What is TSA Precheck?
The program expedites traveler screening through TSA security checkpoints. Are You Eligible? Global entry members are eligible to participate in TSA Precheck. If you are a Global Entry member or eligible NEXUS or SENTRI member, enter your membership number (PASS ID) in the “Known Traveler Number” field when booking reservations, or enter it into your frequent flyer profile with the airline. Your Boarding Pass will then indicate you are eligible to use the TSA Precheck security line.
