Redundant Controllers + Uplinks Eight 1G Ports (SFP) Dual 10G Ports GPON Line Card 4- or 8-port Active Ethernet Line Card Fiber Tray & Management MXK is the new addition to the SLMS product family MXK is a complete non-blocking platform with the initial switching fabric is 400 Gbps The architecture is scalable: The chassis solution can provide 10 Gigs to 100Gigs of data traffic through the box. There are dedicated 10Gig backplane from each line card to the uplink card. This provides a non-blocking architecture. So as you add more end-users, or as applications have higher requirements of bandwidth or as end-users requirements start increasing, the architecture easily scales. The chassis need not change MXK is designed with the future in mind, optimized for high bandwidth applications. In the first release, MXK supports both fiber technologies, Active Ethernet and GPON. Both the solutions are standards based. MXK as we discussed above, is non-blocking, scalable which are requirements for high bandwidth applications. The switching fabric has a dedicated 10Gig to uplink card, packet based transmission. The uplink card has 2 10Gig interfaces and a 8 1Gig interfaces. So your chassis is never the bottleneck MXK is designed for improving Quality of Experience of end-users. The system was designed in such a way it can be achieved, for example, the non-blocking architecture enables high bandwidth applications which provides end-user the services they want. Example in a triple play environment when they are watching IPTV, there is no stalled frames, downloading video is faster, Quality is provided for voice. This is the intelligence of the MXK. The software provides the intelligence. MXK provides the service provider the ability to provision, police, monitor end-users. This MXK provides the ability to handle terabits of bandwidth, link and site redundancy, security, reliability, ease of manageability and application support. Reliability: MXK provides Active/Standby support of uplink cards, Link Aggregation that can be used for reliability as well. Manageability: MXK is part of the SLMS family. It’s the same as SLMS family, ZMS for efficient OSS integration at large scale and WebUI for ease of use at the outset or at smaller scales and CLI support which is similar to the other SLMS products. Consistent across other products Flexibility: Choice of Technology: Support new fiber technologies (GPON and Active Ethernet), Legacy technologies (Copper, ADSL2+ in the future). Interfaces: Any service in any slot, hot swappable MXK interoperates with indoor and outdoor ONTs. Zhone has own zNIDs. Indoor GPON ONT Common Features
All indoor ONT are compliant with ITU-T G.984 and use OMCI for management Fiber “door” protects the fiber connector from being handled by the subscriber Wall mounting is possible with key holes on bottom of the unit Line rate bridging is supported on all models

Residential Gateway Support
The 2510A/2511/2520 can support Residential Gateway functions PPPoE, Static IP, DHCP IP on the WAN NAT/PAT DHCP server hands out IP addresses to the LAN Use one Ethernet port as RG and the other ports for bridging PC’s connected to Ethernet port 1 will use ONT as a RG STB’s connected to Ethernet ports 2-4 participate in bridged video The 2516 with WiFi also has Residential Gateway support tied into the wireless service.

Registration ID The default method of registering an ONT with the MXK is using the serial number of the ONT. Serial number is unique to the ONT OLT is pre-configured to recognize the ONT by the serial number and that serial number is used to configure the ONT. An alternate method of registering the ONT is to use a Registration ID The Registration ID is unique to the subscriber The Reg ID is programmed into the ONT at the time of installation OLT is pre-configured to recognize the ONT by the Red ID and that Reg ID is used to configure the ONT. Advantage: Any ONT can be pulled off of the truck for a replacement. The new ONT is programmed with the Reg ID and is configured by the OLT. No intervention by the NOC is necessary for a unit swap.

Battery Backup Unit Zhone offers a battery backup unit with integrated alarms This battery backup unit draws AC power from the premises and connects to the ONT providing power and optionally also providing alarms. Cables are available for each power input option so that any indoor ONT can be powered by a UPS if required. Zhone has qualified battery backup unit from CyberPower for such applications. 7.2AH battery. 12
