2 Possessive nouns are used to show possession (owning, having, belonging to).

3 The boy's shirt is too small.
The word “boy's" is the possessive noun. It tells you that the noun “shirt" belongs to the boy. The boy owns, or possesses the shirt. Add 's to the end of a singular noun to make it possessive.

4 The car's door is open. The word “car's" is the possessive noun. It tells you that the noun “doors" belongs to the car. The car owns, or possesses the door.

5 My brothers' names are Josh and Scott.
Add only the apostrophe (') because brothers is a plural noun.

6 We saw the kids’ school. kid + '
Add only the apostrophe (') to the end of a plural noun that ends with an s.

7 The bus's engine stopped. The buses' engine stopped.
