How Did The Author Get The Idea To Write This Story?
The author got the idea to write this story because in an article that is an interview, the author, R J Palacio, says that when she was in an ice cream store with her children. All of a sudden, her children started to scream. Why? This is because a girl with the craniofacial disease was in there. Instead of calming her children down, she grabbed their hands and ran out of the store. In the article, it says “‘I was really angry at myself for doing that,’ R J Palacio said.”

What Are 3 New Interesting Facts You Learned
What Are 3 New Interesting Facts You Learned? Why Did You Find Them Interesting? Three new and interesting facts that we learned are: 1) Auggie has Treacher-Collins syndrome - We found this interesting because we never knew they were so many types of syndromes that people could have and also Treacher- Collins syndrome was the one Auggie had. 2) R J Palacio got her inspiration from when she went to the ice cream parlor and she fled with her kids because she and her kids were terrified by the girl with craniofacial syndrome. - We found this interesting because we didn’t know that the author got her inspiration from her own real life situation. 3) R J Palacio also had her own discomfort with the girl. - We found this interesting because we never knew that the adult herself was also judging the girl on her outside instead of inside.

Do You Think Wonder Will Help Children Be Better Understanding And Empathetic Like R J Palacio Hopes? Why Or Why Not? Yes, we think Wonder will help children be better understanding and empathetic like R J Palacio hopes. Since Auggie was born with the craniofacial disease (a facial deformity), it makes it difficult to make friends. Soon, his classmates learn that he’s a funny and kind kid. With the support of his parents, sister, and dog Daisy, Auggie really stood out (in a good way).

Why Does R J Palacio Call Nathaniel Newman Her “Real-Life Auggie?”
We think R J Palacio calls Nathaniel Newman her “real-life Auggie” because he also had the ther Treacher-Collins syndrome just like Auggie did in the movie and in the movie, Auggie goes to a new school and there everyone starts to stare and ask Nathaniel said people also stare and it hard for him to make friends just like it was for Auggie.

What Is The Message/Lesson That The Video Shares With Viewers?
The message/lesson that the video shares with viewers is that you should treat others the way you want to be treated even if someone looks different they still deserve to be treated in a good way. The video also shares that someone might look different on the outside but on the inside they’re just like you and they have feelings too.

Treacher-Collins Syndrome
Treacher-Collins Syndrome, also called mandibulofacial dysostosis, affects the head and face. Characteristics include: Down-slanting eyes Notched lower eyelids Underdevelopment or absence of cheekbones and the side wall and floor of the eye socket Lower jaw is often small and slanting Forward fair in the sideburn area Underdeveloped, malformed and/or prominent ears Most children with Treacher Collins have normal development and intelligence; however, it is important that there be early hearing tests. Most children with Treacher-Collins Syndrome benefit from early intervention speech and language programs.

Apert Syndrome Apert syndrome is a genetic disorder characterized by the premature fusion of certain skull bones. This early fusion prevents the skull from growing normally and affects the shape of the head and face. In addition, a varied number of fingers and toes are fused together. Many of the characteristic facial features of Apert syndrome result from the premature fusion of the skull bones. The head is unable to grow normally, which leads to a sunken appearance in the middle of the face, bulging and wide-set eyes, a beaked nose, and an underdeveloped upper jaw leading to crowded teeth and other dental problems. Shallow eye sockets can cause vision problems. Early fusion of the skull bones also affects the development of the brain, which can disrupt intellectual development. Cognitive abilities in people with Apert syndrome range from normal to mild or moderate intellectual disability.

Theme(s) Of The Movie The themes of the movie are that you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover (in other words- don’t judge a person by his/her appearance) because in that movie when Jack Will judges Auggie and Jack never gets to know the real Auggie but the one person who did get to know Auggie was a girl named Summer and her friends were also judging Auggie but she was the one person who walked up to Auggie and said ‘hi’ to him. Another theme of the movie is kindness because in the beginning of the movie, everyone that came close to Auggie was disgusted by his appearance. In the end of the movie, Auggie gets a standing ovation at school, defeats seventh graders, and had fun. But most importantly, he got friends! Everyone started to notice that he isn’t a weird person, but a funny kid.

Quote Quote: Choose Kind Over Being Right
Explanation: This quote was important because in the movie Mr. Browne always says to be kind and we think that that is what changed Summers’ mind about Auggie and also this is an important quote because it teaches kids that being kind is better than being right.

Message In PSA Example 1 The message in the PSA example one is that we should fight against child hunger because each child deserves food. The video wants the reader to know that we should always be kind enough to donate food to the kids who have no food and that we should always be considerate of others who have less.

Message in PSA Example 2 The message that the video is trying to share in the second video is that we should never talk with strangers on the internet without a parents consult. The video wants the readers to learn that we should never talk to strangers on the internet without a parents consult and that it is dangerous to do that.

Our PSA - Internet Safety
Kids remember to be safe on the internet and the thing you should be most cautious about is putting your personal information online like your name, your phone number and your birthday because the person who created the website is able to see whatever you type on their server of web page so your basically giving out your personal information out to some strangers which is really dangerous. So remember kids never put your personal information online unless you're told to by an adult.

Thanks For Watching! “You should never judge a person from their outside and before you judge them, take a look at who they really are and what their personality is.” - Sonika “Don’t judge a person by his/her face, judge them by their inner personality. Look at who they truly are.” - Siri
