Organic Foods Lets begin by asking the question what is organic? What do people think or hear when they hear the word organic. The word organic simply means from its more natural state. In other words a pure form. The usda says it best saying it has mininmal use or very litle use of biochemical engineering as it applies to the production of the food. Generally these foods are produced with little hormones, pesticides or fertilizer.

Types of Organic Foods

Organic Foods As one can see from the previous illustration there are plenty of examples of organic foods. Most of which fall in the lines of fruits and vegatables. They can be apples, oranges, bananas, lettuce, greens, potatoes etc. They are basically any type of fruit or vegatable without the heavy use of pesticides, preservatives, additives or hormones.

Comparison of organic vs other food

Comparion Continued As one can see there is a vast difference in the amount of minerals and nutrients in organic food than conventional food. However the downside would that of costs. The farmers would have to endure more training, packaging would cost more and processing.

Benefits of Organic Food
Organic foods reduces risk of heart disease. Promotes animal welfare. Prevents cancer. Boosts immune system. Eating organic food will also lead to pesticide reduction. It is also believed that organic foods taste better. It is also known that organic milk has more antioxidants as well and omega 3 fatty acids that non organic milk. The milk choice I would recommend however would be skim, cocunut or almond milk.

Dangers in eating processed, conventional and gmo.
The word gmo as it relates to food means genetically modified. In other words items were added in the production of your food. The dangers in this go beyond measure. First of all there is animal safety to consider. Then there are diseases to be looked at that come from pesticides. Illness have been linked to foods that are modified and processed. It would be in the best interest of the population to ensure that these kinds of foods or either off the market or labeled for the general public.

Healthy Eating Healthy eating consists of eating foods that offer the most nutritional value, along with the most vitamins and minerals. This means eating items such as fruits and vegatables, and foods high in antioxidants. It is not strange why you find that most fast foods are filled with processed foods. The McDonalds fast food chain had a study recently in which it talked about how long it took for the body to process and breakdown a french fry. It was noted that the french fry from Mcdonalds does not decompose. Check out the video below.

Eating Disorders Bad eating habits can lead to being unhealthy along with eating disorders.

Healthy Meal Plan In order to have a well balanced diet, I would recommend a meal plan. Breakfast-consider eating a fruit, drinking water, oatmeal, whole grain cereal with almond milk, eggs, and turkey bacon. Lunch- consider eating whole grain pasta noodles and tuna or chicken breast, nuts, and a salad Dinner-Consider eating chicken breast or fish, potatoes, brocoli
