Bell Ringer Imagine that you are a positive role model for several younger children. What would their parents want you to teach them?
17
2 + 2 Activity Team of 5 with a ruler, piece of paper and a pencil.
Select a recorder. I will read out a list of things to measure. You are to measure the indicated items of each team member and add them together to make a team score. All distances should be rounded to the nearest half inch for easier adding. I will ask each team your total measurement for each item.
18
2 + 2 Measure the length of each team member’s left shoe.
Measure the distance from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the little finger when the fingers are spread out just as far as they will go. Measure the distance from the bottom of the knee cap to the floor. Measure the distance from the elbow to the end of the little finger.
19
2 +2 Measure the distance across the middle knuckles, from one side of the hand to the other. (Measure to the nearest quarter of an inch.) Measure the distance across the eyes, from the outside edge of one eye to the outside edge of the other eye. (Measure to the nearest quarter of an inch.)
20
2 + 2 Add all scores together to form one final team score.
Divide the total team score by the number of people on the team. Total up all the team scores and divide by the number of teams to get a team average.
21
2 + 2 Who had the highest score? Who had the lowest score?
Who had the score closest to the team average?
22
2 + 2 Which team was it better to be, the team with the highest or lowest score or the one closest to average? (Does it really matter?) Which person was the most important person? Least important? Why? How much control do people have over their height? Do you know people who wish they were taller or shorter? How does the way a person looks affect the way they feel about themselves? Should people be judged because of the their height? Should we judge people by their physical handicaps, type of family they come from or other external characteristics? Why or why not?
23

2. Some withdrawal from family life 3. Increased arguments 4. Emotional ups and downs
