Brad Damphousse and Andrew Ballester wanted to create a website to help the public raise funds for a cause of their choice.
And they did it!
GoFundMe is a crowdfunding platform that allows people to raise money to help pay for graduations, tuition costs, and medical bills from accidents and illnesses.

While some limits exist, a wide variety of causes, noble and ignoble, solicit funds on this site.
Some of them include:

As you could imagine, these were not successful!
But GoFundMe has raised funds for victims of terrorists attacks, has helped athletes go to the Olympics, and has kept college doors open.
Having a cause gives people a purpose in life—at least for a while.
The disciples of Jesus, on the other hand, were enlisted in a cause that gave them eternal purpose.
