3 Awards Overview The Department received a total of 29 proposals
17 Grants were awarded Total amount of funds to be awarded is over $231,000 Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

4 Priorities & Requirements
With the funds, grantees are expected to: Convene school based teams and utilize the Behavioral Health and Public School (BHPS) Framework and Self-Assessment Tool to identify strengths and gaps in current initiatives, programs, and policies related to safe learning environments Create and submit: School action plans based on all the elements of the Framework and Tool District action plans that support recipient schools Attend professional development (PD) session(s) based on grantee needs (optional) Participate in an evaluation process for the grant Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

5 Financial Requesting Funds through EdGrants
1st Payment automatically transferred within a few weeks of budget approval (confirmation sent automatically; SY programs authorized 12/08/2017 through 6/30/2018) Remaining funds must be requested Monthly Request “window” (20th through end of month) Funds are typically requested by your district’s business office personnel Please monitor spending to request funds as needed. Cannot shift funds from SY if they have already been received by your district – ONLY request what you have spent and will need! December 2017 Complete a brief survey & receive BHPS Tool login information January & February 2018 1/4: “Bridging Knowledge to Practice” Webinar 1/8-1/26: Winter Regional Networking Meetings 1/29: Attend a Kickoff & BHPS Tool Training Webinar Spring 2018: March 2018 3/23: Statewide Convening on SEL, Rethinking Discipline, & Trauma Sensitivity May 2018 5/7-5/30: Spring Regional Networking Meetings Throughout SY: Submit action plans to the Dept. when completed – DUE no later than September 29, 2018. Participate in the grant evaluation process Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
