THANKSGIVING 2017

2. THANKSGIVING PRODUCES HEALTHY THINKING
Ps 28:5 (NLT) -- 5 They care nothing for what the Lord has done or for what his hands have made. So he will tear them down, and they will never be rebuilt!
Ps 28:5 (The Message) -- 5 Because they have no idea how God works or what he is up to, God will smash them to smithereens and walk away from the ruins.
1 Th 5:18 (NLT) Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

3. THANKSGIVING PRODUCES HEALTHY THINKING
Eph 5:15–20 (NLT) So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. 18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, 19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

4. THANKSGIVING PRODUCES HEALTHY THINKING
Complaining can’t coexist with thanksgiving:
Php 2:13–15 (NLT) For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. 14 Do everything without complaining and arguing {bad attitude}, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.

5. THANKSGIVING PRODUCES HEALTHY THINKING
Thanksgiving reinforces faith:
It reminds us that God is in control:
Heb 3:19 (NLT) So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest.
Let Thanksgiving drive out complaints & unbelief.
Thank God for all things, believe God through all things and complain about nothing!!!

6. THANKSGIVING COMBATS ENTITLEMENT
Thanksgiving focuses attention on the Giver
Thanksgiving helps us recognize the gift
Thanksgiving reminds us that no one owes me anything and to be thankful for everything.

7. THANKSGIVING ENCOURAGES THE GIVER
Being ungrateful disheartens the giver:
Dt 28:47–48 (NLT) If you do not serve the Lord your God with joy and enthusiasm for the abundant benefits you have received, 48 you will serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you. You will be left hungry, thirsty, naked, and lacking in everything. The Lord will put an iron yoke on your neck, oppressing you harshly until he has destroyed you.
Thanksgiving lubricates the flow of generosity

8. SUMMARY
Thankfulness produces healthy thinking, combats entitlement and encourages the giver.
We are commanded to be thankful in all things, to complain about nothing and believe in God always. This is the life of a believer and it produces great reward.
