2017 BPS Wellness policy Aligns with federal Wellness Policy requirements as outlined in the July 2016 USDA Final Rule: Identify Wellness Policy leadership regarding authority and responsibility to ensure each school complies with the policy Include Public Involvement in the Wellness Policy process Establish goals for nutrition promotion and education, physical activity and other efforts to promote student wellness Develop and implement standards and nutrition guidelines for all foods and beverages sold to students during the school day Standards align with school meal nutrition standards and Smart Snacks in Schools nutrition standards Develop and implement standards for all foods/beverages provided, but not sold to students during the schools day Include policy for food and beverage marketing/advertising of only those foods/beverages meeting Smart Snacks Standards Conduct and communicate assessments regarding policy content and implementation Aligns with NYSED Child Nutrition Administrative Review Module: Local School Wellness Policy as per federal expectations 1000 through 1103

health And Sexuality Education - No new changes (NC) Physical Education and physical activity - expand daily recess to for 7th and 8th graders nutrition Environment and Services - Relaxed nutrition standards for foods sold in school - A plan to standardized nutrition for all foods served in school health services – NC Social & emotional climate - Emphasis on coordination of policies, programs and practices Physical environment - No new changes Employee wellness - Better aligned with the School Health Index Needs Assessment tool Family engagement - Parents utilized in meaningful ways - Improve communication with parents Community engagement - No new changes

POLICY MONITORING, EVALUATION & LEADERSHIP
Each school shall have a Team Membership reflective of the WSCC Model Designated leader of SWT assigned a daily “wellness duty” SWT leader has membership on the SBMT SWT shall complete the School Health Index Needs Assessment every 3-years in their school Wellness actions included in each schools’ SCEP/SIG/SIP Annual BOE report on District and SWT status
