This morning we are going to be looking at factors of numbers. Let’s start off by finding out what you already know…
What is a factor?
How can we check if a number is a factor or not?

4. To put it simply, a factor is a number that divides exactly into another number.
The factors of 12, for example, are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12.
Factors can be shown in pairs. The factors of 12 can be shown:
1 and 12 1 x 12 = 12
2 and 6 2 x 6 = 12
3 and 4 3 x 4 = 12
Each pair multiplies to make 12.

5. 20 Let’s use 20 as an example… 20 x 1
So an easy way to work out the factors of a number is to use your times tables knowledge!
Let’s use 20 as an example… 20
20 x 1
So we can say that 20 has 6 factors;
20, 10, 5, 4, 2 and 1
10 x 2
5 x 4
