What is Impressionism? Monet Inspired Landscape
Impressionism (the word) came from this painting by Claude Monet. It is style of painting that began in France around 1870 included artists such as Monet, Degas and Pissarro. It uses spots of color to show the effects of different kinds of light, and that attempts to capture the feeling of a scene rather than specific details ‘Impression Sunrise’ 1872 Claude Monet more info on this painting: Monet’s Impression Sunrise, was created from a scene in the port of Le Havre. Monet depicts a mist, which provides a hazy background to the piece set in the French harbor. The orange and yellow hues contrast brilliantly with the dark vessels, where little, if any detail is immediately visible to the audience. It is a striking and candid work that shows the smaller boats in the foreground almost being propelled along by the movement of the water. This has, once again, been achieved by separate brushstrokes that also show various colors "sparkling" on the sea.

Who was Claude Monet? Monet Inspired Landscape
Monet felt that nature knows no black or white and nature knows no line. These beliefs resulted in this artist creating beautifully colorful and energetic pieces of work. The leading member of the Impressionists, he captured the spontaneity of nature's wonderful light. He was also incredibly prolific (he painted a LOT!) and today many museums (and private collectors) possess his work Taken from KinderArt Claude Monet (1840–1926).
