1 Country use cases: Cambodia, and Tunisia
The new .Stat Suite Country use cases: Cambodia, and Tunisia Prepared and presented by Mr. Jonathan Challener, OECD Ms. Mouna Zgoulli, INS Tunisia Mr. Panhara Oukchay, NIS Cambodia National platforms for SDG reporting Conference – New York, January 2018

2 WHO WE ARE? +3 pending The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

3 COMMUNITY AND PRODUCT INNOVATION CYCLE
The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

4 .STAT SUITE COMPONENTS .Stat Data Explorer .Stat Core
Allows for searching, visualising and sharing of data through a fully open source front-end set of components that can be adapted to specific needs and context. .Stat Core An SDMX backbone for easily interfacing through standard protocols, providing a set of services to manage data and metadata flows, configuration, and security. .Stat Data Lifecycle Manager A set of back office modules that combines all data and metadata management activities into one simple easy to use interface covering the GSBPM steps: Design, Collect, Process, and Disseminate. The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

5 .STAT SUITE IS FULLY OPEN
OPEN ARCHITECTURE OPEN STANDARDS OPEN TECHNOLOGY OPEN source The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

6 Use Case 1: SDG Pilot NIS Cambodia
The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

7 CHALLENGES OF THE DATA FLOW
Collect process Disseminate Difficulty in coordination with all the statistical data producers within the National Statistical System in terms of data collection. Number staffs and time consuming for NIS for data collection, compilation and validation for various indicators to be disseminated (Data- spreadsheet, hardcopy submission etc.). The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

8 NEEDS FOR DATA MODELLING
With the complete end-to-end Full Data Lifecycle from collection through to dissemination will provide the NIS a clear view of possible steps in the statistical business process (GSBPM) and the inter- dependencies between them. The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

9 WHY .STAT Resolve the challenges we are facing in terms of manual data entries and data quality. Improve the coordination related to data/metadata collection and compilation with all the statistical data producers within the NSS. Increased quality of official statistics according to statistical standard approaches and methodologies in the production and dissemination processes. Longer term sustainability for data dissemination. The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

10 Use Case 2: National Data Backbone
INS Tunisia The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

11 CURRENT STATUS: DATA COLLECTION
process Disseminate Dissemination receives data from producers: many formats different structures different channels different versions Issues validation The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

12 CURRENT STATUS: DATA PREPARATION
Process Collect Disseminate Harmonize the structure of received files/ Datasets/databases … Design/Codify new data structure Introduce data manually Several tools , several back offices The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

13 CURRENT STATUS: DATA DISSEMINATION
Disseminate Collect Process Tools : Web applications, Mobile Apps , Publications Formats : Tables , files , charts, maps Complexity: +/- user’s feed backs - Many “Web applications, Mobile Apps” but not Automatically synchronized The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

14 OUR GOALS Goal 1: Reduce time to disseminate data Goal 2: Standardize the way to do it Goal 3: Harmonize data structure Goal 4: Enhance metadata dissemination process Goal 5: Reduce the cost of tools Goal 6 : Have the capability to improve “by our self” our tools Goal 7: Facilitate data access Goal 8: “User friendly” navigation Goal 9: New functionalities (Standard API) The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

15 WHY .STAT System supported by collaboration community
“End user” functionalities rich and easy for use Modular components Support our SDMX strategy Automation of our data process The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

16 NEW VISION Data Preparation Dissemination Collection
Single Entry point Harmonized Structure Single Exit Point All in One System The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

17 4 GUIDING PRINCIPLES Community driven Component-based
by the SIS-CC a strong well-established community continually investing in product development Component-based following international standards CSPA, SDMX, GSIM, GSBPM. 4 Full data lifecycle support from collection, processing, through to dissemination Open-source enabling to be used by a wider set of users for free. The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia

18 COMMUNITY DRIVEN PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
by the SIS-CC a strong well-established community continually investing in product development The Community remains focused on delivering on product excellence and compliance with standards, while opening up to a wider set of users for free. Open-source enabling to be used by a wider set of users for free. The new .Stat Suite - Country use cases – Cambodia, and Tunisia
