As a 7th grade student, you will have five of your full-year courses chosen for you. You will also take a P.E. or an Athletic class. On this pre-registration sheet, you and your parent/guardian will carefully select an elective class that you may be able to take. Here are some things to keep in mind: We offer both regular and Pre-Ap classes for all four core subjects. (Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies) Please choose the type of course you would like to take for each subject. All 7th grade students must take either P.E. or Athletics. Athletic classes are Football Athletics (boys), or Girls Athletics (volleyball, basketball, or track) You must have an annual physical, on a UIL form available at the schools and online at the district website, to participate in Athletics. No student will be allowed to participate in Athletics without a physical on file at Corbett. You will choose from a list of full-year electives choices. Please select a total of three (3) courses, ranked in order of preference. Scheduling and class sizes can affect the number of students who are able to take an elective class, and some electives fill up quickly. Every effort is made to ensure students will receive one of the three choices made. You will be placed in a math and/or reading lab class, based on your past STAAR performance. All 7th grade students will take the study skills class, unless you are placed in a STAAR remedial class. All students will have an academic core team that will consist of a Math, Language Arts, Science & Social Studies teacher. All Corbett students will be assigned a Mustang Pride class. This is a time set aside during the instructional day to reinforce campus procedures, receive tiered interventions, “ZAP” zeroes, and receive tutoring and additional enrichment.
