mold fossils (a fossilized impression made in the substrate - a negative image of the organism)

trace fossils (fossilized nests, burrows, footprints, etc.)

true form fossils (fossils of the actual animal or animal part).

How old is it? Absolute age: Based on radiometric dating, like carbon dating. Will have a number-based age. Relative age: Based on where in the geologic column the fossil is found. Will be compared to other fossils/rocks/etc. in the column, “younger or older than…”

Half Life The time it takes for half of the substance to become something else (decay) If you’re mathematically minded, this equation may help:
