What is a CCG & our remit Formed in 2013,
we are currently responsible for commissioning these types of health services, from 1 April we took on full delegated authority to co commission primary care services delivered in GP Practices A ‘commissioning’ organisation – responsible for identifying and buying health services Not a provider of healthcare such as hospitals, GP Practices etc. Formally established in April 2013 by the Coalition Government Led by local GPs who know the local area and what the local health needs are
5
Key facts Our Governing Body comprises 13 members, nine of who are current or former health professionals. We commission services for around 119,000 patients. In 2016/17 we spent £181.2million to pay for the health services required by our local population. Our Governing Body comprises 13 members,

Involving you in our work
Putting patients at the heart of our decision making process is paramount In line with section 242 of the NHS Act 2012, we have a duty to consult patients on any significant changes to health services We want to go a step further than that to shape services around patient need and based on their feedback about services
7
Introduction to the Commissioning
Maze A tool to generate discussion about specific commissioning decisions and challenges faced Your chance to gain a greater understanding of the commissioning process Imagine you are a health boss in the CCG How best to spend the health budget Gather feedback Help inform CCG Governing Body about future priorities for the commissioning of services This activity is used as a tool to generate discussion about specific commissioning decisions relevant to the SRCCG and the challenges faced with limited resources. This is your chance to gain a greater understanding of the commissioning process and understand why difficult decisions have to be made as a result of having a limited budget. It is our plan to use the commissioning maze as a means of engaging with the local community, gathering patient and public feedback, which will help inform CCG Governing body decisions about future priorities for the commissioning of services. This is your opportunity to act as a health boss, you are in charge of spending the budget, you decide on what services are delivered and where you would make cuts if this was required.

The Commissioning Maze

Each group/team has a “Commissioning Expert” and a “Scribe” The “Commissioning Expert” will advise on decisions you make and consequences The “Scribe” will capture all decisions made Nominate one person to be responsible for the “Money Board” The rules are quite simple, but the challenges you face during it may not be !! Right lets get started Each group/team has a designed facilitator, known as a commissioning expert and a scribe – Can they please introduce themselves to the team and can the scribe please complete the team sheet.
