2 Quoting an author If you are using words directly from another person's work, you must reference it correctly. You must do this in text and in a bibliography

3 Quotations match the source word for word

4 In text referencing makes use of quotation marks '' and can look something like this.
Dickens begins A Tale of Two Cities with the famous line 'it was the best of times, it was the worst of times'.

5 Punctuation lies outside of the quotation marks, and single ' quotation marks are generally used for short quotations. Double '' marks are used during longer quotations. Quotes can also be referenced in brackets at the end of a quote. For example 'It was the best of times, it was the worst of times' (Dickens).

6 A full reference would include the author, date, and page number
A full reference would include the author, date, and page number. It would look something like this Dickens begins A Tale of Two Cities with the famous line, 'it was the best of times, it was the worst of times' (1859, p1).

7 Bibliography A bibliography is a list of all the sources you have used throughout your essay. A bibliography typically includes the authors name, the title of the work, the date of publication, and the country where it was published. For example Dickens, Charles. A Tale of Two Cities. (1859), United Kingdom.

8 Task With a partner, correctly quote Ricciuto's opinion of Eddie Betts
Author- Mark Ricciuto Passage- The Crows are a good change of playing finals footy, and could make a real impact. Eddie Betts is the best forward pocket in the game, and one of the major reasons the Crows season has turned around. I can't wait to watch them destroy St Kilda on the weekend.

9 Result Something along the lines of
Former Crows great Mark Ricciuto stated that 'Eddie Betts is the best forward pocket in the game, and one of the major reasons the Crows season has turned around'. It is important to attribute the author, and remember their opinion may not always match yours
