Students need 25 credits to graduate. Students can earn 7 credits each year. Therefore, students should earn 28 credits when they graduate if they pass all their classes. Students must earn at least 6 credits each year in order to move to the next grade level. Students need 6 credits to be a sophomore, 12 credits to be a junior, and 18 credits to be a senior. Students must show proficiency in Algebra, Biology, and Literature Keystone Exams in order to graduate.

KEYSTONE EXAMS Due to approved state regulations, referred to as Chapter 4, starting with the Class of 2020 students must demonstrate proficiency in Algebra, Biology, and Literature by taking and passing a Keystone exam in each subject. If students are not proficient on a Keystone Exam, they will be required to take a remedial course to help learn the exam content. This remedial course will take an elective space on a schedule. It is a requirement. Students cannot drop the remedial course in order to take drivers’ ed., art, or any other course that is not a graduation requirement.

Additional Considerations
When selecting elective courses, students should select more than the required number of credits. Please note that courses may not be offered due to low student interest or the unavailability of a highly qualified teacher. Additionally, some courses will only be offered on an every-other-year rotating basis. NCAA – must consider a minimum of high school courses approved by the College Board (see counselor for more information).

Changes in Schedules Changes will be made only under the most extenuating circumstances. These include: Incomplete schedule Course conflicts Academically misplaced

If there is an extenuating circumstance:
Student requests must be made within the first five (5) days of the course. If the request is granted, the record of the course will not be reflected on the transcript. Any requests granted after the five day period will be reflected on the student’s transcript. If the student is passing the course at the time of withdraw, they will receive a “Withdraw Pass” on their transcript. If the student is failing the course at the time of withdraw, they will receive a “Withdraw Fail” on their transcript.
