Course Objectives Students successfully completing MEL 721 will get to know: Present status of prime movers in automobile industry. Near future and long term developments in Internal Combustion Engines as automotive prime movers. Design and development of Electric prime mover. Detailed analysis of Hybrid Electric and Hybrid Hydraulic Systems. Performance of automotive prime movers in urban, extra-urban and highway traffic conditions.

UNIT- III: Analysis of Advanced Spark Ignition Engines. UNIT –IV: Analysis of Advanced Compressions Ignition Engines. UNIT –V: Electric Prime Movers for Automobiles. UNIT –VI: Hybrid Electric Prime Movers . UNIT –VII: Hybrid Hydraulic Prime Movers.
