2. Langkawi, officially known as "Langkawi, the jewel of Kedah" is a Malaysian archipelago of 104 islands located in the Andaman Sea, about 30 km off the northwest mainland coast of the country. The islands are part of the state of Kedah, which is adjacent to the Thai border. By far, the largest of the islands is the eponymous island of Langkawi (Pulau Langkawi), which had 64,792 inhabitants, being the only other inhabited island traditionally the nearby Pulau Tuba.
