Paleolithic Age Housing: People live in caves Tools & Goods: Rough or chipped stone tools. Hunters and gatherers. Animals: Wooly mammoths and saber-toothed tigers

4 Mesolithic Name: Meso (Middle) Stone Age
Time Period: 40,000 BC to 8,000 BC Climate: Ice Age begins to thaw out Housing: People live in and draw in caves. Some people begin to move out of caves

5 Tools & Goods: “Barbs” or hooks. Interchangeable blades.
Mesolithic Tools & Goods: “Barbs” or hooks. Interchangeable blades. Animals: Wooly mammoths and saber-toothed tigers are dying out. Some wolves tamed. Some sheep kept in pens.

6 Neolithic Name: New Stone Age Time Period: 8,000 to 3,500 BC
Climate: Ice Age thawed out. Housing: People build mud brick shelters or tents made of poles, wrapped with matting or animal skins.

7 Tools & Goods: Pottery, stone farming tools, clothes, baskets.
Neolithic Tools & Goods: Pottery, stone farming tools, clothes, baskets. Animals: Sheep and goats tamed (domesticated), used for wool, meat, and milk. No more wooly mammoths or saber-toothed tigers.

8 The Neolithic Revolution
Revolution means “change” EFFECTS: People began to live in Villages & cities instead of moving around People had reliable food sources New technology develops This is a *turning point* - things CHANGE!
