2 inclusively and intentionally
LMD is the development of Mission & Ministry inclusively and intentionally

3 3 Key Stages of Development pre 2012 :
Ideal of local teams growing leadership and participation, encouraging vocations, which may include a calling to sacramental ministry . Individuals offering for OLM, selected and trained by the diocese. LMDTs often formed around these individuals to support them during initial training and IME 4-7. Team can lose focus when this training period over. Emphasis upon training in ‘ministry skills’ – pastoral care, assisting in the leading of worship, healing etc. A clear (almost) uniform process established for becoming a Local Ministry Parish emphasising the setting up of a Local Ministry Development Team, sub group of the PCC, elected by the whole congregation, given a mentor for a year to help the group form and discover their task. NB Phenomenon of a team ‘life-cycle’. Short-term teams (eg 3 years) have been extremely helpful to kick start or re-focus participation in mission, ministry and discipleship.

7 Growth Impact Rural Prayer
Post LYCiG requires formation of teams to work on growth – LMDTs have a working understanding of the nature of groups and collaborative working – resources for teams are available on the website. Impact LMDTs are used to tackling difficult issues and thinking missionally Rural Re-imagining Rural Multi-Parish Benefices – LMDTs have been at the heart of this, forming teams across parishes and exploring new patterns of ministry – a wealth of experience and practice will be drawn upon here. Prayer LMDTs are encouraged to put prayer at the centre of their meetings and follow a light-touch ‘rule of life’. The annual Quiet Day seeks to emphasise importance of prayer and commitment to continue our journey into God together.
