1 All you need to know about it
What is sin? All you need to know about it

2 GENERAL INTRODUCTION Sin is:
Any action, word, desire, purpose or omission that contradicts the law of God A failure to comply with the divine rules.

3 WORDS COMMONLY USED FOR SIN
Transgression: to go beyond the bounds (of a moral principle) or other established standard of behavior. Iniquity: immoral or grossly unfair behavior Fall: to miss the mark or come short of the goal set by God Evil: Profoundly immoral, wicked wrong, corrupt, or dishonorable, etc. Abomination: a thing that causes hatred or disgrace.

4 What is the unpardonable sin?
Question 1 What is the unpardonable sin? Jesus said in Matthew 12:31 that blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. God promises to forgive all sins provided it is acknowledged, confessed, repented of and forsaken (Proverbs 28:13; Psalm 32:5; 1John 1:9). For example, this can be committed when an altar call is made and a sinner is convicted by the Holy Ghost. Rather than repent, if he/she refuses to acknowledge his/her sins. Such a person thus makes the Holy Ghost appear to be a liar, claiming that he is not a sinner. In other words, he/she is calling the Holy Ghost a lying spirit (Matthew 12:31; 1John 1:10). Since the sinner did not acknowledge and repent of his/her sin, such sins would not be forgiven (Luke 13:3,5). It is attributing the work of the Holy Ghost to devils (Matthew 12:31)

5 SOME METAPHORS USED FOR SIN IN THE BIBLE
Sin is poisonous, like a viper (Ps. 140:3; Mt. 23:33). Sin is stubborn, like a mule (Job 11:12). Sin is cruel, like a bear (Dan. 7:5). Sin is destructive, like a canker worm (Joel 2:25). Sin is unclean, like a wild dog (Prov. 26:11). Sin is cunning, like a fox (Lk. 13:32). Sin is fierce, like a wolf (Jn. 10:12). Sin devours, like a lion (Ps. 22:13; Dan. 7:4). Sin is filthy, like a swine (2 Pet. 2:22). SOME METAPHORS USED FOR SIN IN THE BIBLE

6 SIN CAUSES A LOT OF LOSSES
Loss of light (1 Jn. 1:6). Loss of joy (Ps. 51:12; Jn. 15:11; Gal. 5:22; 1 Jn. 1:4). Loss of peace (1 Jn. 3:4-10). Loss of love (1 Jn. 2:5, 15-17; 4:12). Loss of fellowship (1 Jn. 1:3, 6, 7). Loss of confidence (1 Jn. 3:19-22). Possible loss of health and even physical life (1 Cor. 5:17; 11:30). If anyone dies in sin, he/she LOSSES heaven (Matt 7: ).

7 What can someone do to avoid these losses?
Question 2 See next slide What can someone do to avoid these losses?

8 What must i do when convicted of any sin?
Acknowledge Acknowledge your sin and repent of them (Acts 3:19) Confess Confess your sins to God and where necessary to man (Romans 10:9,10; 1John1:9; James 5:16) Ask Ask God for forgiveness (Daniel 9:9; Acts 5:31; Ephesians 1:7l Colossians 1:14) (Romans 8:1) Forsake Forsake all sins and sinful companies (Proverbs 28:13; 2 Cor. 5:17; 6:17,18) Restitute Do all known restitutions without delay What must i do when convicted of any sin?

9 THE PREVENTIVES FOR SIN
The Word of God Ps. 119:11; John. 15:7; 17:17; 2 Timothy. 3:16, 17 The intercession of the Son of God Luke. 22:32; John. 17:15; Romans. 8:34; Hebrews. 7:23-25 The ministry of the Spirit of God Zechariah. 4:6; John 7:37-39 It has been often observed that the Bible will keep one from sinning, or sin will keep one from, the Bible.

10 A genuine repentance entails:
What is repentance? A genuine repentance entails: Acknowledgement and confession of sin Forsaking every evil inclinations and companies Restitution (making right all wrongs)

11 QUESTION 3 Since the Bible says that the days of ignorance God winked at, if I have committed a sin in ignorance, will I be still judged for it? Yes (See explanation in notes) Paul was only addressing the people’s ignorance of Acts 17:23 about God. Note the word: THIS IGNORANCE. He was specific. Hence, this instance cannot be generalized to mean all sins committed in ignorance. Lk. 23:34-The Jews committed sin in ignorance but Jesus said they still needed forgiveness. Therefore ignorance would not be an excuse if one fail to repent according to Luke 13:3. God expects the sinner to repent now that he/she recognizes his/her sin, and ask for forgiveness, do necessary restitutions even if the sin was committed in ignorance. For more clarifications: Read the story of King Abimelech in Genesis 20:1-18.

12 What IS THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS IN OUR REPENTANCE AND FORGIVENESS?
Sin is a Debt; all sinners are debtors because we owe God the keeping of His commandments (Matthew 6:12). The only price acceptable to God is the blood of His innocent Son (John 3:16), symbolized in the old Testament as the blood of a lamb without a blemish (Leviticus 17:11). Jesus Christ is the perfect lamb of God (John 1:29; 36). That is why His blood remains the only remedy for all our sins.
