I was born in Pennsylvania (so I am a Steeler fan too!).

5. Daily Procedures 5 in 5 (spiral, pen, pencils, planner, book)
Warm-up (heading + review concept, vocabulary, get ready prompt)

Homework (copy in planner, attempt all problems, correct in pen online using answer keys, re-solve any missed problems)

6. Grade Policy
Grades are a communication tool to provide families with a picture of their student’s overall learning, therefore, in this class grades are based solely on assessments/achievements.
Formative Assessments ~ “on-going” assessments will account for 25% of your total grade.
Provides meaningful feedback while instruction and learning activities are still on-going.
Allows student the opportunity to revise work or access additional learning as needed in order to show mastery BEFORE the final assessment.
Informs teacher instruction and pacing.
Examples of formative assessment are:
vocabulary activities
group/partner quizzes
weekly exit tickets/learning check-ups.
Summative Assessments ~ “show what you know” in terms of mastering specific grade level standards will account for 75% of your total grade.
Provides you and your family an accurate and informative picture of your achievement AFTER all lessons, class reviews, and formative assessments have been completed.
Examples of summative assessment are:
monthly unit tests
final projects or presentations

7. Grading Scores & Criteria
Students will earn a score (1-4) and feedback on each completed assessment based on your mastery of the specific standard/s assessed. Any score below 3 (meets standard), is eligible for revisions PRIOR to the summative assessment. It is your responsibility to take the initiative to seek additional learning opportunities and complete revisions (form available on my website or in class). 
Because our current grade report system (Gradebook) uses percentages to report grades, the following is a list of percent equivalents and descriptions for the standard scoring in my class:
4 ~ Exceeds grade level expectation (100%)
3.5 ~ Meets grade level expectation and extends learning (93%)
3 ~ Meets grade level expectation (85%)
2. 5 ~ Minor revisions needed (80%)
2 ~ Multiple concept revisions needed (75%)
1.5 ~ Basic understanding of grade level expectation (70%)
~ Missing a major concept or procedure (65%) 
*50% will be given for any assessment that is not made up or completed.

8. Success Indicators
Families will receive feedback about how your student is integrating the following four categories. Scores for success indicators will be for information and reflective purposes only (scores will be in a 0% category so they won’t affect students’ overall grades).
Work Habits: work quality (thinking process is shown or explained), work completeness (all problems are attempted and corrected in pen), and punctuality (assignments and absent work turned in on-time without reminders).
Examples of work habits feedback: homework logs, spiral work
Initiative: self-advocacy (asks questions or seeks extra support to further learning), reflection (reviews work and makes adjustments as needed), and persistence (completes work that may not be required, attempts extended learning opportunities).
Examples of initiative feedback: self-reflections, formative assessment revisions, additional learning activities (extra support), challenge work
Collaboration: team work (group job/responsibility), inclusion (actively engages in class activities without redirection), and participation (works productively and respectfully).
Examples of collaboration feedback: group work, group reflections, teacher notes in student planner
Citizenship: integrity (academic honesty), conduct (follows classroom expectations without redirection), and respect (treats others with kindness, uses materials responsibly).
Examples of citizenship feedback: daily stamp in planner (5 in 5), teacher notes in student planner, ODR form

9. Home support suggestions…
TOP 10 WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT YOUR MATH STUDENT! 
Check his/her planner and sign it weekly (it is graded in Homeroom).
Have student check the class website for homework (or phone a friend) and correct it.
Use the classroom website as a resource (extra skill practice, test review, Khan Academy Videos on specific topics).
Look at your student’s daily work after it is complete (you should see it corrected in pen). Any mistakes should be re-solved in pen.
Check the math box in your child’s planner daily. A stamp means the student had all materials (any notes from me will describe behavior concerns).
Utilize after school math help (or make an appointment with me).
Keep all previous work in an at-home file until grades are finalized.
Read any updates (Is your updated on Family Access?) and participate in any family homework activities (homework logs)
Check Gradebook (Family Access) often and for accuracy. Report mistakes asap!
