Background
Decreasing revenues forced PostNL to innovate their business model and reduce the TCO of their Group IT facilities. Their strategy is to outsource their IT completely except the orchestration of the IT- Business alignment and to close the data centers. The increasing dynamic market forced them to create the opportunities to facilitate Agile innovation and scalability.
Solution
PostNL chose the solution of a full Cloud Strategy ‘SaaS before PaaS before IaaS and on premises’ along with Public before Private Cloud. For custom made applications or ISV solutions that cannot be replaced by an existing SaaS facility, PostNL asked Sogeti to service the applications on a quasi SaaS (private-SaaS) level. Sogeti supported PostNL in defining a detailed roadmap to migrate over 30 mission critical applications to the Windows Azure platform, including supporting middleware services like service bus, Java stack, Oracle and SQL instances, I&AM. Sogeti continues to run the applications that have been migrated.
Benefits
Reducing Cost of IT, decreasing the size of the IT unit of PostNL and closing down the data centers increased their capacity to create and adopt new innovative solutions, available in the cloud or supported by Cloud based technology. Standardized, generic cloud solutions and services reduced cost by increased scalability.

7. Hotel Facility Group Management System redevelopment (300’000 rooms)
Background
A major hotel group was supported by Microsoft Services France for redesigning their room booking system as well for the transformation of application portfolio which was crucial to the hotel group activity. These business applications were using the latest Microsoft advances on the Azure Public Cloud, mainly PaaS, on both developments and databases activities. Given the return on investment high stakes expected by the hotel group and the scarcity of PaaS Azure technologies skills available in the market, Microsoft Services turns towards Sogeti ATS to support them and provide resources and methodologies necessary for ensuring the success  of the Front Office Light System (FOLS) project.
Solution
The solution from Sogeti ATS consists of setting up a multi-skills and multi-location team using a DevOps and Agile approach
The first Agile development team located at the Cloud Center Lyon (France) was in charge of Agile Development, Code quality control and corrective maintenance activities
A second Agile Testing team, located at the Bordeaux Testing Service Center, is in charge of Performance Tests, Automated and manual tests.
The Sogeti ATS activities overall governance is entrusted to a project manager.
