1 25 In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.
Judges 21:25

2 12 Eli’s sons were wicked men; they had no regard for the LORD.
7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD: The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him.

3 The called Samuel again
The called Samuel again. The boy did not know it was the LORD, because the LORD had never spoken to him before. Good News translation

4 There is no difference, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. Romans 3:25 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2

5 26If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? Heb 10
