What Do You See In The Cross?
9
At His Cross: I see “Peace”.
Peace of Mind… To live in peace… So good to know and to realize that we have peace. So scary and tormenting it is to know that I have some troubles at work, at home, with the law etc. and that there is no peace in me… I can not eat, I can not sleep, I can not concentrate until we know what the outcome will be… We all have been there… Lesson 8 Romans 5:1-2
10
At His Cross: I see “Peace”.
Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, [2] through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Lesson 8 Romans 5:1-2
12
Romans 15:13 [13] Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 13:11 [11] Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete
2 Corinthians 13:11 [11] Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
14
Philippians 4:7 [7] and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
15
1 Thessalonians 5:23 [23] Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
16
The AVENUE of God’s Peace
“through our Lord Jesus Christ” (5:1) True peace comes only “through” Jesus Christ and His cross (Romans 5:8-11) [8] But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. [9] Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. [10] For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. [11] And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
17
The AVENUE of God’s Peace
“through our Lord Jesus Christ” (5:1) Jesus’ peace is not from or likened to the world’s peace (John 14:27) John 14:27 [27] Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
18
The AVENUE of God’s Peace
“through our Lord Jesus Christ” (5:1) Jesus’ peace is independent of worldly circumstance (John 16:33) John 16:33 [33] These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
19
The AVENUE of God’s Peace
“through our Lord Jesus Christ” (5:1) Jesus truly is the “Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9:6) Isaiah 9:6 [6] For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
20
The BESTOWAL of God’s Peace
“having been justified by faith” (5:1) Justification is a legal/judicial term Sin = transgressing the law (1 John 3:4) 1 John 3:4 [4] Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
21
The BESTOWAL of God’s Peace
“having been justified by faith” (5:1) Justification is a legal/judicial term Transgressing guilty & deserving of death (Rom. 6:23) Romans 6:23 [23] For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
22
The BESTOWAL of God’s Peace
“having been justified by faith” (5:1) Justification is a legal/judicial term By God’s grace can be free from that guilt (Rom. 3:23-26) Romans 3:23-26 [23] for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, [24] being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, [25] whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, [26] to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
23
The BESTOWAL of God’s Peace
“having been justified by faith” (5:1) Justification is a legal/judicial term Pronounced “justified” (i.e., “Not guilty” & free from sin): Upon “faith” (Rom. 3:22, 25, 26) Romans 3:22,25-26 [22] even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; [25] whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, [26] to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
24
The BESTOWAL of God’s Peace
“having been justified by faith” (5:1) Justification is a legal/judicial term Pronounced “justified” (i.e., “Not guilty” & free from sin): Upon “faith” (Rom. 3:22, 25, 26) That “obeys” Christ’s pattern of teaching (6:17-18, 3-4) Romans 6:3-4 [3] Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? [4] Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:17-18 [17] But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. [18] And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
