Gantt charts. A Gantt chart is type of bar chart that illustrates a project schedule. Gantt charts illustrate the start and finish dates of the activities/tasks of a project along with their progress. The artifacts such as WBS, PERT chart, project schedule provide all the better support to prepare a Gantt chart. The initial format of the chart was developed by Henry L. Gantt ( ) in 1910. 4. PERT VS Gantt. PERT and Gantt charts are frequently presented as mutually exclusive project management tools. PERT is usually recommended for higher projects with high inter-task dependency. Gantt is recommended for simpler projects. Most project managers prefer Gantt charts because of their simplicity and ability to show the schedule of a project. PERT vs. Gantt. Assignment. You have been asked to produce an application that maintains a blood donors database. The idea is to locate a donor when a particular group of blood is needed by a hospital. Prepare a WBS for this project. Using the WBS create a PERT chart. Make assumptions about activity durations. - Also create a Gantt chart. Ascertain the duration of the project. Assignment.
