Adult Programming Autauga Prattville Public Library
2
Adult Programming These programs can be used year round and can be tweaked to fit budgets and themes. Some of the following programs can be altered from teen programming.
3
Cupcake Decorating We have had Stacey Little several times over the last year for different events. This summer he presented a cupcake decorating workshop with easy decorating tips and tricks. He also held a decorating workshop for teens as well as being a judge for our Teen Cupcake War.
4
Cooking with a Crock Pot
Stacey Little presented easy and quick recipes using a Crock Pot last Fall.
5
Author Expo In April we have an Author Expo at the library. We invite local authors to host tables, talk to readers and hopefully sell their books.
6
Job Fair We have several job fairs throughout the year featuring the Department of Corrections and local employment agencies. This is a great way to get people into the library who wouldn’t normally use the library.
7
Art Night We have an amazing art studio in Prattville. We have had Art Night three times in 2017 (a teen night, an adult night and a fundraiser night). This is always a popular event.
8
Craft Night We ask friends and family in the community who have special skills and talents to come share their expertise on arts and crafts.
9
Adult Game Night Although these pictures are from our teen game night, you can easily adapt games to an Adult Game Night. Board games, card games, charades, etc can all be tweaked along with adult snacks and drinks (IF you can serve wine in your library). If you have a small budget, games can be donated or found at Goodwill.
10
Detective Workshop Every summer we have a Detective Camp at the library, partnering with our police department. They teach teens the steps detectives go through when solving a crime. They even solve a crime at the library and go through a trial. This program can be tweaked for police to come speak with adults in a series of workshops.
11
Murder Mystery Party Every summer we have a Murder Mystery Party for teens. This is a very popular program and can easily be an adult event. We use MyMysteryParty.com but there are several websites that over mysteries at a low price with different mysteries for all age groups.
12
Trivia Nights Trivia Nights are popular and very easy. When we hosted Harry Potter Night for kids, several of their parents requested a Harry Potter Trivia Night. Hopefully this will be a future program for us. You can also have trivia nights for popular TV shows and movies.
13
Final Notes Advertise, advertise, advertise! Website, Facebook, Instagram, etc. Take pictures! Post pictures of the event soon after on social media. You can also use the pictures to promote future events. For program ideas, Google, Pinterest, Facebook (other library pages) are your best friends!!! Have fun!! Any program is possible!
