On the day of July 24th 1897 Amelia Otis Earhart was about to give birth to a baby girl in the house of her parents.But no one in that house,even her grandparents and loyal caring mother,knew the fame the child would gain,the awards,and the multiple accomplishments and examples of womens rights she would display. At age 10 her obsession with flight and exiliration finally began when playing with her sister “Pidge”after building a long ramp-like small rollercoaster after seeing a bigger one like it at the amusment park.

After riding in a wooden crate down the ramp,she emerged with a bruised lip and ripped dress,but the one last thing she emerged with was her taste for exhileration.

Her first REAL high altitude experience began at age ten when she went for a ride on a real airplane with her sister “Pidge”,Of course she couldn’t resist! This 10 minute ride would forever change her life,as she knew she had to fly.

Years Later , she went through many jobs such as photographer,truck driver,and even working at a telephone company.She finally earned up 1000$ dollars for her first flying lessons! They began on January

Her flying jacket was a leather coat,knowing the other flyers would judge her,she slept in it for 3 nights to make it look more “worn, as she called it.

6 months later she purchased her own plane.It was a Kinner Biplane She nicknamed it “The Canary” She was a true flyer now. Just like in her dreams.

Since setting many records Amelia has won herself quite the celeberty image as well as her many,many others. This is a picture of Amelia walking with none other than president Hoover himself on the white house grounds January,1932.

This is when she began her carrer in competitive flying , a stunt aviator. She became involved with the Nintey-nines , A famous organization for women flyers.

But still,her most famous acheivement was yet to come. A young woman Amy Phipps Guest,wanted to be the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, she decided she couldn’t, she wanted to find another woman to do it with “The right image”,That woman was Amelia Earhart.

She set out on January 11th,1932.
She set out on a long 14 hour and 56 minute flight and after this non-stop flight . She landed. In Darry,Ireland. Someone ran up to her and asked , “Have you flown far?” her simple response was “from America”. She had succeded her flight across the Atlantic.Now the landmark is now home to a museum called “The Amelia Earhart Centre”

Her final flight was an attempt around the world,after some final sad radio signals,she vanished,with no evidence to this day.The date she went missing was July 2nd 1937.Not until January 5th 1939,years of search efforts,was she was declared dead,she was a symbol of women’s rights, may she rest in peace.
