Purpose To give students an understanding and appreciation for the challenges facing island nations and territories with respect to environmental problems and how these relate to broader issues facing our planet. The course will focus on a common problem for islands – solid waste.

Eligibility/Selection Criteria In addition to the eligibility requirements listed below, students must be in good academic and social standing with the college to participate/travel on this course: Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors Sincere interest in environmental issues, sustainability and social responsibility 16-18 Students will be accepted 4 credits

FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS
Program Fee Includes: Accommodations, breakfast, airport transfers, group ground transportation, program planned meals and cultural excursions Not included: Visa costs, additional meals and personal expenses. Group Airfare International flight from Boston, MA to Montego Bay, Jamaica AND Kingston, Jamaica to Boston. The program fee and group airfare are paid to the Glavin Office. Program Fee $2,500 Airfare (Group) $900 Tuition Included in spring semester flat rate tuition charge (up to 20 credits) Financial Aid & Grant Information Contact SFS for more information Billable subtotal: $3,400 Estimated Additional Meals $400 Estimated Incidentals $100 Visa (if applicable) Research on own Non-billable subtotal: $500 Total: $3,900 + Visa Fees (if applicable)

STUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES
Any deposit to confirm a student’s enrollment in the course, as well as the remaining balance of the program fee, is paid directly by the student to the Glavin Office. Program Fee (Glavin) Tuition is paid directly to SFS and is billed at the flat semester tuition rate as long as you are under 20 credits. The elective abroad is 4 credits and if this puts you over the 20 credit flat tuition rate you will be billed $1,552 per credit. Tuition (SFS)

STUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES
Students who receive a full-tuition scholarship can use a portion of their scholarship to pay for their tuition cost. Scholarships Education Abroad Grants in the amount of $2,000 are awarded to students receiving need-based Babson Grants and full-tuition scholarships (cumulative limit is $4,000). Grants Students can choose to borrow loans to help cover expenses.
