Urbanization – the growth of cities people moving out of rural areas to form cities
As urbanization has increased, some cities have become a metropolis (a very large city) Example: Vancouver is actually made up of smaller cities such as Richmond, Surrey, and Burnaby, but together they all make up the metropolis of Vancouver

Large metropolises expose people to a variety of cultures they might otherwise have no contact with.
Most immigrants to Canada settle in large cities rather than rural areas. Cities are more likely to have services and organizations that can help new immigrants to find jobs, learn English, and adjust to Canadian culture.
