What is a mole? Copy these questions to answer during the video:
Who discovered the mole? How much does a mole represent? How do we use the mole?
3
The Mole A word that represents a number
Mole (or Avogrado’s number) is 6.02 x 1023 We use the mole in Chemistry to work more easily with with large numbers of small particles For example: A mole of Carbon atoms A mole of Oxygen gas molecules A mole of a compound (NaCl, salt)
4
12 grams of Carbon = 6.02 x 1023 atoms
The Mole 1 Mole is the exact number of atoms in 12 grams of Carbon-12. 12 grams of Carbon = 6.02 x 1023 atoms
