The unofficial start to retailers courting shoppers with deep discounts, especially on electronics and toys Consumers say they will spend an average $ this year on holiday shopping, according to an annual survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics for the National Retail Federation. Up 3.4% from the $ consumers said they would spend when surveyed at the same time last year. How many of you shopped on Black Friday?

Small Business Saturday
A big deal for many independent businesses, with millions of shoppers expected to shop small. American Express came up with the idea in 2010 to help bring attention to small businesses during the busiest shopping time of the year. Last year, more than 6,700 Neighborhood Champions around the country rallied local businesses and created events and activities in their communities. How many of you shopped on Small Business Saturday?

Cyber Monday The National Retail Federation surveyed more than 7,000 consumers in October First time in survey history, online is the most popular shopping destination this year, with 59% of consumers reporting it's their preference. Most online shoppers will take advantage of free shipping (94%) and conveniences like buy online, pick up in store (49%). 19% will take advantage of expedited shipping and 12% will use same-day delivery.
