Fête des Lumières 2013 (Lyon – France)
The Fête des Lumières (in English : Festival of Lights) was first held in Lyon in 1852 to coincide with the inauguration of the statue of the Virgin Mary which was erected at the top of the Fourvière hill. The people of Lyon would spontaneously light up the city’s facades by placing little candles on their window ledges. During four evenings around December 8th, the city is taken over by videographers, computer graphic artists and lighting designers who transform it into an open air theatre quite unlike any other in the world. Nowadays something like 3 million visitors from France and abroad attend this event ! Dominique LAURENT (meet me on mosttraveled people.com or on besttravelled.com) AUTOMATIC
