New design studies Optimisation General issues • passage of services for the vacuum equipment • shielding modifications to accommodate the vacuum valves • handling/exchange scenarios (possible conflict with the detector opening scenario) • operation of vacuum valves in the magnetic field • 3x stronger magnetic field + irradiated system parts (remote maintenance) • defined distance for operator (remote handling) Impact of radiation to personnel Space Intervention improvement (hand/remote) Weight System robustness (preventive maintenance) BPM together with ‘Q1TAS’ equipment moved to UX Vax issues • convenient design for remote handling quick flange maintenance scenario bellows seals patch panel sensor redundancy Lukasz Krzempek, TE-VSC-DLM

New design - Issues M. Raymond –19th WP8 meeting – Standard Opening configuration Run configuration Handling device conflict Lifting devices enter JFC3 (20mm/10mm) Valve actuator enters JFC3 (20cm) Beam pipe support/box conflict When solved – provided envelope dimensions for VAX module Detailed design of VAX module Lukasz Krzempek, TE-VSC-DLM

Solenoid coil vs. Magnetic field (1) Gate valve magnetic test Aim: Influence of magnetic field on solenoid coil of 4/2 way valve Tested object: Vat Valve Series 47 DN63 Place and data: EHN hall (building 887, MNP22 (max 660 [mT]) Participants: Jaime Espinos, Willemjan Maan, Lukasz Krzempek 1 2 3 Configuration 1&2 – solenoid coil reacts at about 350 [mT] – no influence on position indicator and other parts Configuration – no reaction if the same direction of magnetic field with the dipole’s one – solenoid coil reacts when opposite direction (around 80 [mT]) External magnetic field does have the influence on the behaviour of powered valve solenoid Lukasz Krzempek, TE-VSC-DLM

Position indicator vs. Magnetic field (2) Set up ready for tests in M1 magnet in H2 Test Beam Area (max 3 [T]). End of May/June as envisaged time to run M1 magnet. Lukasz Krzempek, TE-VSC-DLM
