1 Mad Minute We are going to begin each lesson with a Mad Minute over our 6’s and 7’s Multiplication Facts. We will practice Monday-Friday before we begin the day’s lesson. Also on Friday, we will have a quiz over our facts. Part of your studying for this week will be these facts.

3 Homework Check

4 Division 5.NBT.6

5 I can divide by a one-digit divisor.
Learning Target I can divide by a one-digit divisor.

6 Vocabulary 19 ÷ 5 = 3R4 The amount leftover after division is called the remainder. The number to be divided into is called the dividend. The number which divides the other number is called the divisor. The answer to a division expression is called a quotient.

7 The Steps to Long Division
Divide Multiply AND Subtract Bring it on DOWN & Bring it on BACK! Students will access EdPuzzle, which contains the Division Rap. They will listen to the song and answer the quiz questions.

8 You Try & I Will Help The area of the driveway is 384 square meters. The width of the driveway is 4 meters. What is the length?

9 You Try & I Will Help The bus travels the same exact route each week, making 9 round trips from terminal Springfield to Burlington. If the bus travels 3,105 miles each week, how long is the bus route?

10 You Try & I Will Help The movie theater collected $5, 274 in ticket sales on Tuesday. If each ticket cost $9.00, how many tickets did they sell?

11 You Try & I Will Help The dairy truck delivered 2,560 pints of whipping cream this week. If there are 8 pints in a gallon, how many gallons of whipping cream did the truck deliver?

12 You Try & Check with your Yellow/Green Partner
1.) What is the quotient of 2,304 divided by 8? 290 388 288 278 Label the quotient, divisor, and dividend in your problem.

13 You Try & Check with your Yellow/Green Partner
2.) Lane bought 92 tickets at the carnival night hosted at CCMS. He kept 56 tickets shared the rest of the tickets equally between two friends. How many tickets did each friend get? 18 36 46 16 This looks like a multi-step problem. What’s your strategy? Find the quotient of 177 ÷ 6.

14 You Try & Check with your Yellow/Green Partner
3.) On a Friday evening a local bakery had orders for 4 batches of brownies, 97 pies, and 335 mini-cupcakes. If the 4 chefs each made an equal number of desserts, how many desserts did each cook make? 436 145 108 109 This looks like a multi-step problem. What’s your strategy? Find the quotient of 367 ÷ 5.

15 Evaluate Me I was given the following problem to solve. This was my quotient. 1.) Divide _____ 2.) Multiply ______ 3.) Subtract ______ 4.) Bring It On Down 5.) & Bring It On Back ______ 95 ÷ 4 = 21

16 Are you able to divide by a one-digit divisor?
Can you hit the target? Are you able to divide by a one-digit divisor? PROVE IT!

17 Exit Ticket Use your checklist to divide the first expression. Then, create your own division word problem. You must solve it, so that tomorrow we can share it with your yellow/green partner. When you are finished, you may submit it to the tray and pick up your homework. 1.) Casey got 438 pieces of candy trick or treating. She wants to divide them equally into 8 groups to share with friends. Will she have any left over for herself? 2.) Create your own division problem.
