PAX2C Advanced PID Controller
Process and Temperature PID Control
35
What is PID Control? The best example of PID Control is to think of the cruise control in your car The goal is to maintain a constant speed regardless of conditions
36
PID Control Temperature sensor or process signal Industrial heater
PID Control is similar except it maintains a constant process flow or temperature exactly the same way Temperature sensor or process signal Industrial heater PID Controller © Red Lion Controls Inc.

16 Soft Alarms What is a soft alarm? Control outputs
A condition (alarm) within the controller that allows an action to be taken. Actions could be as simple as a change in display color to direct mapping to a hard output for external control. Control outputs Currently the controller supports up to 4 hard outputs for external control. Those outputs could be in the form of relay, triac, or solid state.
47
FlexBus and Flex Cards FlexBus connectors
FlexBus is a parallel bus of connectors that receive FlexCards FlexCards are used for controller applications to add additional capabilities like; Heater Current Monitor Process Input Remote Setpoint 2nd Analog Input 2nd PID Controller FlexBus connectors
48
FlexBus and FlexCards FlexBus Connectors
What products feature FlexBus? The PAX2C is the only product that currently offers FlexBus and FlexCards. Combining this advantage with the PAX2C capabilities provides the market with a controller which has never been seen before.
49
PID/2nd Analog Input FlexCard
+ OR What is the advantage of 2 PID controllers in one unit? Saves the customer panel space and installation time. In addition, the customer can leverage all the features in the PAX2C like Graphic Bar Graphs, Color Changing Displays, 16 Alarms and the universal PID Control x 2.
50
Heater Current Monitor FlexCard
What is Heater Current Monitor? The current of the heater is measured through a current transducer. The transducer output is connected to the HCM FlexCard inside the Controller. A display and/or alarm can be assigned to monitor the “health” of the heater and heater circuit, providing advanced warning of a short or open-circuit, and of heater degradation.
