SOIL TREATMENT PRODUCTS
2
Soil is treated to make it usable for agriculture, gardening and other purposes.
3
Soil may be contaminated with chemicals, non-degradable waste, oil, or alkalis because of improper disposal of industrial waste, agricultural chemicals and so on.
4
Therefore it is necessary to treat soil to make it suitable for agriculture or gardening.
5
The most common soil treatment products are: Aerators and CompostLimePeatFertilizer
6
Aerators and Compost An aerator is a device that is used to create air pockets to allow more air to mix with the soil or water Aeration also improves soil drainage, and allows more oxygen into the soil. This helps worms, and microflora and microfauna to thrive
7
LIME Plants grow on soil that is alkaline. When the soil is acidic, lime is used to increase the pH levels of the soil. Adding powdered lime to the soil increases nutrients such as calcium, magnesium and phosphorus in the soil.
8
PEAT When growing plants that thrive in an acidic environment, peat is added. Adding peat or partly decomposed vegetables to the soil decreases the soil’s pH levels.
9
FERTILIZER Fertilizer increases the nutrients of the soil which are required for the healthy growth of plants.
